Holiday Vibes
2022 feel-good stories
If there’s anything we need as the year winds down, it’s a bag of cheer, a sleighful of goodwill, and these woodland Santa-like gnomes (thanks to Brigitta on Unsplash.) Here are a few feel-good stories from 2022 that might offer the end-of-the-year holiday cheer you need.
My 2022 Feel Good Stories List
“Researchers say that sea species including phytoplankton, kelp, and algal plankton produce roughly 70 percent of the world’s oxygen.” 22 Seaweed Facts to Know in 2022. kvaroyarctic.com.
Jaw-dropping images: Cosmic Cliffs and Pillars of Creation made by the Webb Telescope. Even though I take issue with NASA’s naming of the massive telescope, that’s fodder for another post.
Jose Andres and World Central Kitchen on Substack. Our world leaders should be taking notes.
Finnish Blogger Jenni Hayrinen’s Baked Feta Pasta. Admittedly this recipe has been circulating for a few years, first launched on TikTok, but I just got around to baking it this year. Wow, wow, wow. And yes, use sheep’s feta, not cow feta, if you can find it.
“We often refuse to accept an idea merely because the tone of voice in which it has been expressed is unsympathetic to us.” Friedrich Nietzsche
Nuclear fusion. The Weather Channel.
The Great Blue Wall and other incredible stories from the good folks at goodgoodgood.com, including this gem: The Clara Lionel Foundation, founded by Rihanna, announced it would be giving $15 million in grants to organizations focused on climate justice in the U.S. and the Caribbean. The funding is supported by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey's #StartSmall initiative. Now, if Jack could’ve held on to Twitter a little longer!
And lastly, because let’s face it, I could go on and on, there are SO MANY good stories worth sharing, but this is big with a capital B story. Respect for Marriage Act, congress.gov.
Please share one of your favorite feel-good stories in the comments to keep the goodwill going!
If you are one of the amazing people who supported my work this past year, whether that was an art commission, an art purchase, you bought my cookbook, or you’re new to pARTake, thank you, thank you, thank you. You’re a badass.
On a deeply personal note: I’m ending 2022 with my ongoing surveillance CT scans and oncology consult, so please keep me in your thoughts and prayers.
I’ll be back on the third Sunday of January with my regular Monthly Vibes post and a free Beginner’s Watercolor Tool Kit List. Happy New Year.
Stay curious. Stay safe. Make an impact.
