Vulnerable, A Lookbook
Plus I have 500 subscribers!
Wow! 500 subscribers! I don’t know what it is about a rounded number, but I don’t care. 500 of you. How exciting! Hi. Today, I have a thanks, a health update, and an art reveal. (As a side note, I have typing dyslexia with the word “the,” so if you see a misspelled the, it’s because I don’t always catch it, and the grammar editing software I use doesn’t catch it because I misspell it so frequently.) There are worse things to worry about.
Whether you’re a paid subscriber, a recurring paid subscriber, or an unpaid subscriber, seeing how many of you are in my corner of the world brings me joy. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Now if you’re on my social channels or here on Notes, then you might’ve seen my fantastic news that my four-month cancer scans were once again NED (no evidence of disease). I can tell you this: your support and love make all the difference. Fighting an incurable disease, dedifferentiated liposarcoma, is not for the faint-hearted, as I was reminded of this past week when I had another (my fourth) allergic reaction to the IV contrast medicine during a surveillance scan. This is not the fault of my doctors; I agreed to have the scan done, not opting for the more expensive MRI, of which I have a substantial out-of-pocket cost. However, I know I can’t play Russian roulette with my life anymore and take a chance that I won’t react. This says much about our US healthcare system and my stubbornness, but that’s fodder for another post.
Today, I’m excited to share my first official digital lookbook, VULNERABLE.
What’s a lookbook?
A lookbook is a visual portfolio showing a particular style or design commonly used in fashion and photography. At the same time, a catalog offers the same visuals but includes sizing, prices, availability, etc. The VULNERBALE catalog is coming soon, too. Originals and limited edition prints will be available to purchase.
VULNERABLE is a ten-piece art series that will be part of my upcoming 60-plus-piece multimedia art exhibition, Wild African Adventures in Art, at Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, Madisonville, Kentucky, from April 12 to May 16, 2024. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
Three concerts are scheduled at the venue during my exhibition. Tickets are still available for Eykamp String Quartet, Rumours: A Fleetwood Mac Tribute, and the MCC Singers Spring Concert. If you’re in the area, I hope you’ll consider attending!
That’s it, for now, pARTakers. Take good care, tap that heart, leave a comment, or drop me a line. I love hearing from you. And if you know someone who would enjoy this post or my art, please share.
Thanks,
Maureen xo

These animal portraits are so gorgeous. I do love how you focused on their eyes and your inspiration behind creating this series. And many well wishes for good health.
Love the Lookbook, Maureen! So excited to attend the show in April, too! My fave is the zebra, followed by the baby elephant, but they are all wonderful. Sending positive vibes your way as you make it across the finish line with this fabulous endeavor!
